01 — PROJECT OVERVIEW
Sculpture, water
and light in one form.
Created for Shanhai Zizai Garden in Daya Bay, this outdoor installation combines a large circular sculpture with water and light. The ring is made from 304 stainless steel and finished in an electroplated bronze colour.

02 — DESIGN & ENGINEERING
From a continuous curve
to a buildable structure.
Three-dimensional models were used to develop the sweeping ring geometry, the two supporting ends, the line of water outlets and the relationship between the sculpture and the circular pool.

03 — STRUCTURAL FABRICATION
Built in controlled sections.
The ring was fabricated in sections around a shaped internal structure. Workshop photographs show the large circular frame, curved supports and stainless steel outer panels being assembled and welded.

04 — FINISH, WATER & LIGHT
Warm metal by day.
A luminous landmark at night.
An electroplated bronze-coloured finish gives the stainless steel a warm appearance. A continuous row of outlets creates the water curtain, while linear and point lighting define the sculpture after dark.

05 — FINAL RESULT
A focal point for the entrance.
In daylight, the ring frames the surrounding buildings and open space. When the water and lighting systems are active, the installation becomes a layered composition of curved metal, falling water and warm light.
